Being offered in 4 constituent campuses. The student will learn basics of crop production, protection, management and value addition. Having dual degree option with Dalhousie University, Canada. B.Sc. (Horticulture) Being offered from 1972 in Periyakulam and from 2011 in Trichy campus (only women). The course imparts basic and advanced knowledge on production, protection and storage of vegetables, fruit crops, spices and condiments. Develops specialized skills in landscaping and floriculture. Having dual degree option with Dalhousie University, Canada. B.Sc. (Forestry) This program is focused on Indian Forest Service and Conservator of Forest opportunities and being offered from 1980. The subject has cubicles like forest conservation, wild life biology and forest product utilization. B.Sc. (Food, Nutrition and Dietetics) Initially offered as B.Sc. (Home Science) from 1980 till 2014 and later as four year degree programme. Being offered as B.Sc (Food, Nutrition and Dietetics) from 2015 onwards. This program serves as a platform for understanding the basics of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics. Courses on food safety, food quality control, nutrigenomics, neutraceuticals and health foods provide knowledge required for placement in food industries and hospitals. The course imparts professional skill in establishing food processing units. B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) Farm mechanization, Bio-energy production and conservation, and soil and water conservation techniques including micro irrigation are the major components of the syllabi. Job opportunities are many in the areas of farm machinery, micro irrigation, water conservation engineering and bio energy sectors. Having dual degree option with Dalhousie University, Canada. B.Tech. (Biotechnology) On a self supporting mode being taught since 2002. The biotechnology research aspirants will learn about real world basics and applications of biotechnology in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. Basics of plant and animal biotechnology are taught. On hand skills are being imparted in molecular marker technologies, tissue culture, genetic engineering and secondary metabolite production. Students are exposed to IPR issues related to GM crops. B.Tech. (Horticulture) The basics of horticultural crop production, protection and management with a special emphasis on landscape horticulture, value addition of horticultural commodities and entrepreneurship development on floriculture are being taught to the students. Having dual degree option with Dalhousie University, Canada. B.Tech. (Food Process Engineering) The students are taught food value addition engineering with a special emphasis on fundamentals of crop production science and engineering. The course on food biotechnology and microbiology adds the students’ competitive values in jobs of world food markets. B.Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering) The course focused on two important subjects viz., i) Energy production, conservation, management, energy auditing and budgeting and ii) Science of environmental pollution, causes of pollution and pollution remediation engineering The job markets are renewable and non renewable energy sectors, pollution remediation sectors, energy auditing and budgeting. B.Tech. (Bioinformatics) This course creates a best platform to excel to the candidates aspiring for applying the advancements of information technologies in biology. This advanced course imparts basics of molecular biology with special emphasis to plant biology, structural biology, genome sciences, computer programming and networking, database management systems, protein modeling and molecular drug designing. B.Sc. (Agribusiness Management) ICT in agriculture is important and this is the only program designed for Agriculture (Applied) Information Technology. IT careers are available as Land use planners, landscape ecologists, IT managers, eCommerce system designers, agricultural ERP specialists- the critical careers that our program focuses Biological Database Designer, eLearning Specialist, Commodity Trader, Farm/Plantation Manager, Supply chain Manager, Crop Insurance Manager etc. B.Sc. (Sericulture) The students will learn knowledge and acquire knowledge in management of mulberry garden, sustenance egg production, silk worm rearing, cocoon production, post cocoon production technologies, by product utilization, non mulberry sericulture and biotechnology applications.
